New Zealand Organic Meats

Premium organic lamb & beef

South Island

“Beautiful grass, beautiful animals. Our farms don't need pesticides or herbicides, and our CO2 emissions remain low. We keep things uncomplicated. It’s how we’ve farmed for generations.”

New Zealand Organic Meats (NZOM) represents 50 farmers in the South Island who supply Harmony with premium organic lamb and beef.

The organic movement

Organic and environmental farming is part of Harmony’s DNA. While the business of  organics has changed over the past decades, each of our farmers shares the same values and philosophy of the organic movement, while utilising modern machinery and technology to further reduce their environmental impact.

Each organic farm is accredited by AsureQuality and/or BioGro, recognised global standards for the organic and biodynamic agricultural industry.

THe Planet

NZOM farmers run sustainable and proactive farming systems that prioritise animal welfare, soil health and water protection to create a lighter carbon footprint. For every Harmony organic farmer, soil is king. “Soil is our biggest asset,” says NZOM’s Paul Ruddenklau, also a farmer supplying Harmony. “Get the nutrients right, grow nutrient dense feed and you reduce weed burden, which creates a system that doesn’t need any chemical inputs such as pesticides or herbicides. Our farms run lighter stock numbers than a conventional farm, there’s less pressure on the land and our CO2 emissions remain low. We keep things uncomplicated. It’s how we’ve farmed for generations.”

The quality

The organic farmers who supply Harmony are people who work with what the environment gives them, and who are also driven by the consumer’s quality expectation. Producing superior, delicious organic beef and lamb is proof they are doing right by nature.
